Rules in Cleaning your Rugs and Carpets

When cleaning your sized carpets, there are a few general rules, but you should be sure to follow the manufacturer’s rules to keep your rug looking new.  Some general maintenance tips include:

• Always keep your area rugs dry and moth free.  Never store a damp rug rolled up or in an area it will be exposed to the elements unless it is made specific for the outdoors.
• Rotate the area rug often.  This will lessen the wear in high traffic areas.  It will also reduce the effects of UV sun rays (fading).
• Vacuum with the nap of the rugs, never against it.  For best results use either a low-suction vacuum or a stiff broom to sweep the rug of debris and dirt.  You can also simply shake them.
